welcome to my website

Hello, My name is Jonah, I'm a software engineer currently based in New York city.

I'm a full-stack software engineer with a specialization in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. You can find my résumé here.

I'm particularly interested in the transformation to society that is underway as a result of Artificial Intelligence. I think about A.I. from multiple angles, including: as a software developer, as a data scientist, as a student of psychology, and as someone engaged in culture through the lens of the arts.

After graduating from Bennington College in 2013, I worked for several years at the Clinical and Affective Neuroscience Lab at Brown University as a Lab Manager and Research Assistant, where we studied the neuroscience and psychology of meditation and mindfulness.

I believe we need to think about A.I. from many different angles in order to fully understand its impact to society and how to guide its emergence. I have recently been posting some of my thoughts about A.I. on my LinkedIn.

Check out some of my coding projects below, and I'm excited to hear from you!

My background

For the past almost 5 years, I have been working at Medidata Solutions, the leading provider of software for companies running Clinical Research Trials. Promoted twice during my time there, I have established myself as a skilled engineer and team leader. At Medidata, I have worked as a full stack software engineer, and have been a leading voice in the adoption of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

I love to learn and have continued my education, even while working full time, in areas such as Linear Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, and Machine Learning through online programs offered by University College London, Stanford Online, and Harvard Extension School.

I have worked on several projects that you can see in my portfolio. Most recently, I've been working on an experimental chat experience using Anthropic's Claude 3 LLM served by AWS Bedrock. You can find the live experience at this link and you can see the code on my github.

My Skills

Python, Ruby (on Rails), JavaScript, TypeScript, C# (.NET), Java, Go, SQL, GraphQL, R, HTML, CSS, AWS (RDS, SQS, S3, ECS, EC2, EKS, MSK, Lambda, Kinesis, Cloudwatch, CDK, etc.), Kafka, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Terraform, Github Actions, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Sumologic, TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Liquibase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, React, Redux, Next.js, Node.js, Microservices Architecture, Arc42 Architecture Standard, C4 Diagramming Model, Mermaid Diagramming Language

Academic Bio and Bibliography

From 2014 - 2018, before I became a coder, I worked as a Lab Manager and Research Assistant at the Clinical and Affective Neuroscience Lab (CLAN) at Brown University. Housed in the Warren Alpert Medical School, the CLAN lab studies the Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience of Meditation. I managed 50+ undergraduates and graduate students working on 15+ projects. I ran many aspects of a clinical trial, participated in a systematic review that led to a meta-analysis and several publications, and leveraged my budding coding skills to contribute to our projects. Here are my four publications that came out of that experience.
